A podcast player that respects your time.
Podland finds the ads before you press play, then skips them for you. No accounts, no sign-up. Just the show.
iPhone · iOS 17 or later · Free, with nothing to buy
12:47−18:13
Three things, done properly.
Podland is not trying to out-feature anyone. It does a small number of things and it does them fast.
Smart Ad Skip
Podland's server listens to each episode before you do and marks where the ads are. The app skips straight past them while you keep listening. You don't tap anything.
Opens instantly
Cold start to a usable library in about 127 milliseconds, measured on an iPhone 16 Pro. Nothing on the launch path waits for the network, so your last episode is always one tap away.
No accounts
No email, no password, no profile. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to cancel. Your subscriptions and playback positions live on your phone.
How Smart Ad Skip works
The hard part happens on a server, before you press play, so your phone never has to think about it.
Step one
It fetches the episode
Podland's backend acts as a proxy podcast server. It retrieves the episode from the publisher and keeps the exact audio it will serve back to you.
Step two
It finds the ads
That audio is transcribed and the transcript is classified to locate the ad breaks. The result is a list of time ranges attached to that specific episode.
Step three
Your phone skips them
The app downloads those ranges alongside the audio and jumps over each one as it arrives. If a skip lands wrong, you can correct it, and your correction sticks.
Downloads
Keep episodes on the phone for the subway or a flight. Podland holds to a 500 MB budget and clears out what you've finished.
Volume Boost
Lifts quiet voices without turning the whole episode into a wall of noise. Useful in a car or on a walk.
Playback speed
Adjustable speed for shows that talk slower than you'd like, with the controls where your thumb already is.
What this actually is
Podland is a small, independent app. It exists because the alternative was a player with a hundred features and an ad read every eight minutes, and because skipping those by hand got old.
It's currently in TestFlight, not on the App Store. The server that finds the ads is a single machine paid for by one person, so treat it as a considered personal project rather than a company with a support desk. Bugs get fixed, mail gets answered, and nothing about your listening is sold to anyone.
